Upcoming Events & An Octoberfest Beer Steins Giveaway

by Renee on August 31, 2012

I’ve been asked to mention several events that are coming up in NE Ohio, so I’ve saved them all for one post. Mark your calendars and reserve your spots now! Plenty of beery fun to be had by all!

I’ve also been offered a chance to giveaway a set of plastic beer mugs to celebrate Octoberfest by a company called PromosOnline–anyone anywhere in the U.S. can enter.

 EVENTS

  • On Friday, Sept. 14th, join Chuck’s in Chagrin Falls for their third annual “Farewell to Summer” party at the Pine Lake Trout Club from 7 – 11 p.m. Enjoy a barbecue buffet, beers from Cellar Rats in Madison, Ohio, and a selection of wine. Music will be provided by Brand New Hat, a bluegrass/folk band. Tickets are $40/per person. Call Chuck’s  at 440-247-7534 to reserve your spot with a credit card. I’ve attended this event in the past, and it’s a good time in a beautiful setting.
  •  On Saturday, Sept. 15th, head out to lovely Chardon, Ohio, for the first annual Chardon Brew Fest from noon – 5 p.m. You’ll find free parking at the Eltech Building Property, 100 7th Avenue. There will be plenty of food from local restaurants and beers from over a dozen breweries including Chardon Brew Works, Willoughby Brewing Company, Market Garden Brewery, Thirsty Dog and more!  There will also be live music throughout the day. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. A $5 Designated Driver ticket gets you soft drinks and a mug! Go to www.chardonbrewfest.com for all the info and to order your tickets, and find them on Facebook as well!
  •  On Saturday, Oct. 6th, a Charity Beer Tour in memory of Dick Kemer, who fought a courageous battle against lung cancer, will be held by Angels on the Avenue  to sponsor a $1000 scholarship in Dick’s name.  In an effort to raise funds for this scholarship, they are hosting a micro-brewery tour.Cost for the tour will be $50.00 per person and is limited to 50 people.  Your cost includes chauffeured driven bus transportation provided by Touch of Class Limo Service, all taxes, driver tip, draft beer on the bus, and tastings at most of the visited breweries.  Our day will start by gathering at P.J. McIntyre’s Irish Pub (17119 Lorain Road) at 9:00 a.m. You can enjoy drinks and a limited menu.  We will depart promptly at 10:00 a.m. from the back parking lot.  Stops include Indigo IMP Brewery (Cleveland), Cellar Rats (Madison), Chardon Brew Works (Chardon), Main Street Brewing (Garrettsville), and the Buckeye Beer Engine (Lakewood).  We will arrive back at P.J. McIntyre’s between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.  Special hotel rates have been established with the Hilton Garden Inn on Graton Road which includes shuttle service to and from PJ McIntyre’s for the tour.  This rate is $89.00, plus tax.  If we secure 10 rooms, this rate will drop to $79.00 per night. Guests may bring any food and/or beverage on the tour for themselves or to share.  Since the majority of these breweries are on small side, food (lunch / dinner) will be on your own. If interested, e-mail Joe Dailey (jdailey@ppg.com) or call 216) 701-3143 to secure your spot. Final payment will be due by September 22, 2012.

looking forward to Oktoberfest events in my area and hitting the pubs and local breweries with hubby… our next door neighbor is so into beer he brews his own lol. (and it’s not bad either! Hubby loves to sample it on the weekends…and any other day he has off!) Enjoy the events in your area!
