Jack & Ken’s Wins GOLD!

by Renee on September 19, 2010

On Saturday, I was sitting in a bar at Kelleys Island, disappointed that the Island Brewery was closed for the day. We were watching the Ohio Buckeyes game and sipping a pedestrian beer when the news came from several “tweeps” on TwitterJack & Ken’s Ale from Sierra Nevada had won a Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival in the “Other Strong Beer” category! That was certainly reason to raise a toast, and we did!

Special mention to a few local breweries here in Northeast Ohio: Hoppin’ Frog Brewery in Akron won Gold for their Field Beer; Fat Head’s Brewery and Saloon in North Olmsted took home the Silver in American Style IPA; And the Brew Kettle in Strongsville won a Silver for their Imperial Red Ale, and a Bronze for their Barley Wine-Style Ale. I’ll have to pay each a visit to be sure they were all well-deserved awards.

Meanwhile, I have two bottles of Jack & Ken’s here at home, with a few more on order with my local beer/wine specialty store. I’m cracking one open tonight. Cheers, to Jack!
