Cleveland Wine Fest–with Beer! Win Tickets!

by Renee on May 31, 2013

The summer beer fest season is about to get underway, and there are several events coming up that I’ll be sharing with you here.  The first is the eighth annual Cleveland Wine Festival (presented by Giant Eagle), Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15. Don’t be fooled by the title–there is indeed beer to be found as well. The fest will be held at the North Coast Harbor downtown as it has been in the past. I’ve never had a chance to get to this particular festival, and once again, I will miss this one. (I’ll be in NYC for Savor, so I’m ad_donate250x125not too sad about it.) But my loss is your gain because I have tickets for YOU to win, dear blog reader!

So let’s get to the beer. No, purists, you won’t find TRUE American craft beer here–and nothing local. Sorry about that. I’m promoting the event because a portion of the festival’s proceeds will benefit the Bright Side of the Road Foundation. The non-profit organization was founded by Chagrin Falls resident Barry Winovich, who in 2006 was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the devastating disease commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The Winovich family lives in my community and this is a fantastic charity which works to find a cure for ALS. So if you have to drink a little beer owned by the Evil Empire, just remember it’s for a good cause. You will find Ohio wines at the event.

SAMSUNGAnd this is kind of cool:  special guest and Belgian Master Beer Sommelier Marc Stroobandt returns with interactive and entertaining presentations. Marc travels around the world to teach people about beer and food pairing, proper beer pouring techniques and the importance of using the right glassware.  You can sample the Best of Belgium Tour presented by Stella Artois, featuring new Belgian brand– Stella Artois Cidre – along with Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Leffe Blonde and Leffe Brune. You’ll also find Goose Island Vintage Ales — Sofie, Matilda, Pere Jacques and Pepe Nero, which are new to this year’s festival.

Tickets are $29 in advance and $35 at the door. They can be purchased in advance online at www.clevelandwinefestival.com or at the door. For details, call 847-382-3270 or email info@clevelandwinefestival.com. There are no handling or processing fees for online orders. Admission tickets include a souvenir wine glass, 12 tastings, food & wine seminars, cooking demonstrations, musical entertainment, and the opportunity to purchase wine at a discount. Designated Driver Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door. This ticket includes two non-alcoholic drinks, food & wine seminars, cooking demonstrations, musical entertainment, and a souvenir wine glass upon departure. Those under 21 admitted free when accompanied by paid adult.

Here is your chance to win a pair of tickets to the event: just leave a comment on this post about what beer festivals you are most looking forward to attending this summer. For a second chance to win, send me a tweet linking this contest post @brewersdaughter! I’ll draw a winner on Wednesday, June 12 at noon!

Festival hours are Friday from 4:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. For more details, visit www.clevelandwinefestival.com or call 847-382-3270.  Stay tuned to my blog for upcoming information about the World Beer Festival, to be held in Cleveland in July! Cheers~
