A Three Hour (Beer) Tour…

by Renee on August 22, 2011

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip…

Children of the 70s (and anyone who watches TV Land reruns) will recognize this lyric from the screwball television comedy “Gilligan’s Island” — and if you ever imagined yourself shipwrecked with the Professor and Mary Ann, well, the Amazing Taste Beer Cruise on Saturday, Sept. 10 doesn’t promise that. But what it does promise is a 2-and-a-half hour sail along the Cuyahoga River aboard the Nautica Queen on a late summer afternoon– and plenty of beer tasting from Buckeye Brewing!

Tickets for this cruise are just $35 per adult, and include appetizers, a scavenger hunt, as well as a chance to rub shoulders with your favorite V107.3 radio personalities! Boarding is at 2 p.m. with departure at 2:30 and we return to dock at 5 p.m.

Now the most exciting part–I have two free tickets to give away right here on my blog! Just respond to this post with a comment about your favorite Gilligan’s Island character, or if you’re not familiar with the show, your favorite beer you’ve enjoyed this summer–or combine those two ideas somehow. You will be entered to win the tickets–I will draw a random poster number on Monday, September 5th to choose my shipmate and guest.

If you’d like to increase your chances of going to 100%, you can buy tickets here:  http://www.nauticaqueen.com/calendar.php  or call 216-696-8888.

Brought to you by Ameriprise Financial – La Banc & Associates, the Buckeye Beer Engine, and the Nautica Queen.

Disclosure: my friend Sally Spitz works in sales at V107.3 radio and has provided me tickets to the cruise as well as tickets to give away here on my blog. She’s good that way.

My favorite Gilligan’s Island character was….Gilligan.

I remember snippets of the show, but I am really not old enough to really remember the characters. I do have one episode that sticks in my mind though: a Christmas episode that featured Santa visiting the island, and everyone thinking it was just one of the crew dressed up.

My favorite beer this summer has to be the 3Floyds Rabbid Rabbit I brought back with me from Chicago. I sure miss 3Floyds, and I hope they start shipping to OH again.

Since I am not too familiar with GIlligans Island, I really enjoyed Hoppin Frog Turbo Shandy this summer

My favorite beer this summer was Founders’ Blushing Monk. I managed to snag a bottle on a random trip to a really random store!

I like the Professor. He could build some cool stuff, but could not use his smarts to get off the island.

I’m not a big fan of Gilligan’s Island, but my favorite beer I’ve had this summer is Thirsty Dog’s Raspberry Ale–it’s amazing 🙂

My favorite beer of the summer has been Hop Juju Imperial IPA from Fatheads Brewery and Saloon!

I really think the Skipper’s importance was underrated. He was the hero and the backbone of the entire castaway crew. Today I savored Founder’s Red Rye PA for the first time and loved it. I’m usually a porter girl, but thought it was outstanding. Thanks for the giveaway!

Favorite character has to be Maryann. Gotta love those midwest farmers daughters. Favorite beer of the summer has been Robert the Bruce Scotch ale from 3 Floyds. We grabbed a six pack on our way back from Chicago and I am still hoarding a couple.

I loved Ginger, I wanted to grow up and be her!
I enjoyed TOO many beers this summer, from Shandy to Shocktop raspberry. I loved the Thirsty Dog Raspberry also! I must say I’ve been craving whatever I had from Market Garden…if only I could remember the name!

The Professor was my favorite character. I always (even from the time I was very young) thought he was very handsome. Back then I didn’t know the awesomeness of beer, but if I had I can guarantee I would’ve like to have a beer or two with him. Hitachino White Nest…because it is a fabulous witbier and the island was nice and tropical. Cheers!

My favorite was Ginger, she was so glamourous. I found it amusing that she had so much clothes, accessories and never ran out of makeup…..really, how much did she pack to go on a 3-hour cruise?!?! I liked the Professor too, he was the original MacGyver!

I enjoyed having Christmas Ale on Whiskey Island this summer! Would love to win free tickets to this cruise on the Cuyahoga!

I think Gilligan and Skipper had a Bear/Otter thing going on. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

My favorite character is the professor. Anyone who can build a radio from coconuts is a genius in my book. As for my favorite summer beer? Its got to be Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy. Its just lovely.

I loved all the characters, but the best characters were definitely the Howells! And my favorite beer from this summer was Blushing Monk from Founders, lovey.

I think Mary Ann and the Howels would have loved Lienenkugel’s Summer Shandy. However, I am really excited about this beer tour in the last throws of summer.

Hopefully I’m not too late for this. Gilligan was probably my favorite. Despite his ineptitude, he always seemed to be in decent shape by the end of the show. On a somewhat miscellaneous note, I also love Stairway to Gilligan’s Island.
